Scouting for young people with additional and special educational needs

Our Scout Group is a group with a difference – We provide highly valued access to scouting for young people between the ages of 8 and 18 with additional and special educational needs, who might find it difficult to fit into a mainstream Scout Group.

We run our programme as two age groups – from 8 to 10½ years old and an older group from 10½ to 18. Our programme is adapted to meet the young peoples’ needs.

Our young people are great to work with and get a lot out of what we offer. We work as a team to meet the special circumstance of our group. Our volunteers are people who enjoy working with young people, are patient and tolerant and see the potential in others and help them to achieve it.

But it is more important that everything gets done than who does it. So, if you can volunteer some of your spare time, we would love to hear from you, and we can build a team who together can make a huge difference to the lives of our young people.

Scouting is for adults too!

Join us in creating a lasting impact through Scouting – where every adventure, every skill learned, and every bond formed is because our team make it possible.

Scouting only happens because of our volunteers! As part of our team, you can help us inspire the next generation, build lifelong friendships, and contribute to our young people and local community.

Being a member of our team is really easy and it doesn’t mean making a regular commitment. It’s flexible and you can get involved I a way that suits you.

We believe in building strong teams and offering flexible options to get involved. We know that we’ll do that by involving people from different walks of life with different experiences, different skills, and perspectives.

Take a look below at our opportunities to get involved, in a way that suits you, or speak to the leaders when you contact your local group.
